Below are a few testimonials from people who have successfully completed one of our learn to row courses. More than half of our club members came to us via the learn to row programme and would be happy to give testimonials but we can’t put them all up here
I wish I had done it sooner …
“As far as testimonials go this is one I am more than happy to give. About 18 months ago I needed to get seriously active as my dodgy old footballing knees wouldn’t allow me to do a lot of exercise. Doing a Murdoch Rowing Club “Learn to Row” course I found I was instantly hooked. Under the expert guidance of the learn to row coach I quickly learned the basics. I joined the club straight after the course finished.
Within a few months of regularly participating in social rowing, my technique naturally improved from rowing with experienced rowers. Deciding to get a bit more serious, I started training two days a week and Saturday mornings and before I knew it, I was racing in Masters regattas. I even rowed in the Australian Masters Championships. Rowing has certainly enhanced my life.” Ian W. – Nedlands
“About 20 years ago, I did a small amount of rowing at school in Victoria. A few years ago I decided to do the MURC “Learn to Row” course as a refresher. I thoroughly enjoyed it and ever since I have become a regular rower at training, regattas and social rowing, I can’t get enough. A very good way to get some lifelong friends,”

“A few years ago somebody suggested I consider rowing as a form of exercise. I gave the Murdoch University Rowing Club’s “Learn to Row” course a go. The instructors, Peter & Steph were particularly helpful, knowledgeable and very empathetic with the flexibility limitations of a 68 year old woman. Rowing for me is now the only exercise I do as it is very gentle on the body. It gives me a really good work out. I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who is getting on in years.” Jennie H. – Como
